RTC (big bad barry) tankmate issue

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I've had the same problem with my RTC who is eating his tankmates or bullys them to the point they wanna die... Truth is is that the RTC needs to be alone or with other tank mates in a huge tank so they wont bother any other fish

Why would you ever think that putting a RTC in with slow growing other fish was a good idea in the first place...obviously if the RTC is 8" anything under 6" is at risk of being eaten and will almost certainly be eaten. If the fish is smaller than the RTC it will be eaten eventually even if you are feeding the RTC a lot.

You will not be able to house the RTC in a 180 for very long anyhow, like tops 6 months.

I'd take the pacu and eat them, they aren't that great of pets anyway, and put the rtc in that tank. He'll be good in there alone and you'll get to enjoy one of the best buddies the fish world can produce.

put the red tail in with the pacu. built him a little home out of ther bog wood. within 30 secs he got the "welcome to the tank" nibble from the biggest pacu. but since then they live ok. i worried he would struggle to compete for food. most food doesnt get near the ground but he seems to be doing ok. if anything he looks bigger.

he thought that the eel and knife fish are earthworms:ROFL:
taking the joke away you have a real monster in that tank
i am not sure if that salvini will be in that tank for a long time

Nice RTC, and thanks for naming it after me :D my name is Barry!!
what where you feeding them in the 2nd vid?
I had one a long time ago when i lived in NY mine was 3' had to give it away when it got to big for the tank. lol start saving for a monster tank :)

I was going to say something like he doesnt look that big yet, and blah blah, but that 2nd video, he looks just as huge as mine. Im hoping mine wont eat the oscars, as they are just a tad larger then him, and have all been together since week 1. I feed mine beeflion, and as soon as i walk in the room, and pop one out of the plastic, he comes out. Almost like he can smell it in the room, and as soon as it hits the water, he goes CRAAAAAZY, like a dog looking for beggin strips from the commercial.
