RTC Birth Defect??

I got my rtc at 4" with only the 4 outer barbels and missing the one under his chin, I thought they would grow with age but not so. Either way he's one of the nicest ones iv seen, he's now almost 2 and is 30", I measured when I moved him to a bigger tank last week, he's had a bright red tail and top fin since i got him. I was wrapped! And still am

I used to have a spotted bullhead cat that had one of its barbels split at its end to form 2 more barbels. If they're happy and healthy though, I say don't fix what ain't broken.

Not sure about the barbels m8.. but i had the same query about the red tail.. got him at around 3" couple of months back.. is 7" now.. shrimp and prawn.. i feed him everyday.. and he has a partially red tail already.. lil black streak still around.. try prawns.. cheers..
