My RTC destroyed one of the heaters in his tank this weekend.
the element looked like a mile of barbed wire in his tank. I unplugged it and cleaned out all the broken glass and related pieces, but he is VERY lethargic.
I was able to hand feed him, but he's not right. Could he have electrocuted himself?

Yes. I electrocuted some Giant Danios one time by dropping the light bar in the tank. They were swimming UPSIDE DOWN.

This morning he's better, but not quite himself. I hand fed him again, and he ate,but seems slow. DUMMY!

The term electrocution can mean either:
The term is often used incorrectly to refer to a non-fatal event of electric shock.

Thanks for the tip, I had no idea.

Whatever the right terminology is, make sure your new heater is titanium or has a heater guard. Your catfish may not be happy but I can see him doing it again. PVC conduit makes an ugly but cheap effective guard. If you have a drop saw you can cut some slits or drill some holes, but even no holes will work.

Thanks for the English lesson. So maybe it was a failed suicide attempt. Either way, a heater cover is probably a GOOD idea for this dude.
