When i build my 330 it was made for my RTC. I made it a 6x3 footprint at 330 gallons. (i know i should of went bigger but this was a first build) Footprint is everythimg with these guys and IDC if you have a 1000 gallon tank. Its not big enough if it has a 10x2 footprint. My future RTC tank is only gonna be 3 foot deep but id like it to be at least a 12x5, or if i just put him in an outdoor pond (Florida) Ill prolly go with a 12x10 with a possible 5x6 connected to it with a max depth of 4 feet. To me i think that would be the perfect size for one of these Monsters.

Okay, lets say an huge rtc has a huge floor space for swimming. What kind of depth do we think it needs? Those 800 gallon stock tanks are like 8 feet in diameter but only 2 feet deep.

i dont think 2 feet is enough at full size there about a foot and a half tall. Thats not alot of space to go up and down. 3-4 would be a good depth for them

yea, you could be right about that.. especially with a full belly, i would go with 3 ft probably, and regret it and wish for 4 ft.

how do ya get an RTC that big full?

For the last time I haven't seen your cat! Maybe you should have kept it inside.

what are you talking about? ok, i apparently have to prove that i have owned large catfish before i'm allowed to post on this thread. so here are pics of my TSN and my RTC that i no longer have because i couldn't properly care for them.

The Shedd Aquarium in Chicago has a 150,000 gallon Amazon aquarium where there is i think 5, don't quote me, but i do know they're 4-5 ft long.

:) Sorry I have a screwy sense of humor and tend to crack myself up, maybe I should have said dog instead of cat. This wasn't meant at anybody. I meant it to be inferred that somebody fed their neighbor's cat to their hungry catfish.

the same way it happens in the natural rivers in S.A. send a few kids to wash some plates pond/river side. depending on how old or if they are big mcdonalds fans, it could get full off one or two.

thats how the large goonches get full. they just go to the fire made at the burial cerimony done by the local india people and eat the body of the dead when it is pushed into the river.
