I think I would do as many 50% water changes as I could. Like once a day or every other day instead of waiting a week. You're giving the tank a whole week for the toxins to build back up.

Also, when using dechlorinater, you should be dosing for the entire size of the tank, not just the water being replaced. Unless you're premixing in buckets. Your fish may be suffering from the chlorine in the water.

Yeah im doing the 50% change every day now, i noticed the diff straight away with the 1 i dne yesterday. Im also adding 15ml of declorinator to every change which is slightlr less for the volume of water. My rtc still has a redness in his mouth and what seems to be ulsers, but the upside is he ate for the 1st time in a long while last night, 2xsquid, isnt alot for his size but atleast hes trying. Time is on my side for now so i will keep u guys posted of any newx

Good deal. I'd definitely keep that up until your parameters even out. Then I'd probably test the water on a regular basis to make sure there isn't a spike.

Big cats dirty up the water quick, especially when there's more than one in a tank.

all water params seem to b slowly sorting themselves out, thanks tn the advice from u guys, also a big thanks to marko for putting this thread up for me. The gill curl is most defo not getting any worse, looks like he has a real chance of being ok. I am still gona carry on with the large water changes and keep a very close eye on params, what i would like from you guys is a food idea my rtc would most defo race to eat and enjoy. Earth worms is my choice but i could be missing something.

My TSN likes raw shrimp, krill, and earthworms.

My Asian RTC only eats pellets. I can't get him to eat anything else, not even when the worm floated right over his head. I tried stuffing shrimp with pellets, he bumped the shrimp until the pellets fell out. I guess this is a good thing, but I have tons of shrimp at the house and am running out of pellets. My order is for 2 pound bag of massivore delight is on backorder.

I would definitely try worms though, when my TSN would only eat feeders that what seemed to work best for him.

Squid -- the stinkiness is hard to resist; plus, it's cheap. You can buy a pretty big box of it for three bucks. Also, shrimp, fish filets, massivore, algae wafers. Massivore is pretty expensive, so I only feed it in small amounts to supplement whatever else he's getting.

Squid seem to be what my fish love the most. But please do be careful when you feed squid to your fish though, as it can raise the salinity of the tank to a potentially lethal level. I read of one member (I cant remember who you are, but if you know im talking about you, please take credit) who lost a whole a couple TSN after feeding them a lot of squid the night before.

Plus when it comes to eating, my amazonian catfish seem to LOVE meaty foods whereas the asian ones prefer floating pellets.

im currently feeding squid so i might try the worms, atleast they wriggle and make it more interesting for him, it will also reduce the gill curl as he isnt very active and thats part of the cause of it. i will try anything 1nce though so open to suggestions from other members even the experts out there :D

the params in the water have calmed down alot but still not much of a ph which is worrying.

on another note, what could i use to treat these ulser like formations in my rtc's mouth, he is still breathing heavier than normal and the redness is still there, even though the water params have slowed down from toxic, the nitrite is rising so the bb is obviously starting to multiply hopefully there is enough bb to turn this nitrite into nitrates which isnt so bad, maybe thats when i will see a result on the redness going away. Im just thinking out very loud guys :D

I think this is a bacterial infection, so you'd treat with Maracyn 1 or 2. Or whatever equivalent you guys have there. The pH I think would really be helped by the salt mix that's described on the page I linked in my post earlier. This will raise pH and also raise hardness, thereby keeping pH stable.
