for starters you should take him out of a 10 gallon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the filter your running on that tank cant keep up with his size/bio load. Thats way to small of a quarentine*** tank IMO.

...... I was reading it expecting there to be more to read, lol

I don't think a 10 gal is bad if he has a pretty good filtration and is keeping up with the water changes daily. I did it with my rtc before and he was fine. Water quality all depends on his part of the job in doing the changes. I say bump the temp up to around 80 and add a little salt. Keep up with the daily changes also! Don't slack on that. Also I don't think it looks like ammonia burn. That's what my rtc had awhile back and it didn't look like that.

Ya i know thats all i have room for at this time, I have a fifty gal on the porch i will try to set it up some where;), and he did go throgh the gravel eating stage and it made me crazy that is why i went with the sand in the 180 gal

I woke up this morning and now his soares look worst and he has like a fuzz mold all over him in splaches, he is very active but in very bad shape i dont under stand he was as health now all asudden he is crashing , none of my other fish are sick or showing signs of ilness

I wish I knew the name of this stuff I bought for my RTC. It worked great. I bought it at Petsmart and... It was kind of expensive for how much you got, but it did wonders... I think it was Mardel TC (Tetracycline)...They are little blue powder pack inside the box and on them it says Tetracycline in black. But there are two I believe, and one is a lot more then the other... that's the one I got, it did fin and tail rot, ammonia burn and all that good stuff. I would get it and do the normal half dose.. and sense you said your using a ten gal, which I believe is fine for now, put half a packet in. I think it says do that for 3 days, then a bigger water change and, well read the box. Still do daily water changes, and what water you take out try your best to put that much meds back in, but half dose of course and take your carbon out of the filters. My rtc cleared up in no time with doing that.

Well I worked 11am to 9pm so I could'nt get the med today but i'm going as soon as petsmart opens because when I got home a big chunk of his fin was gone and he looks worse , so not using meds like some people said is not working so I'm going to use med's.

All depends on what you use and how you use it. There are things that you just add some salt, raise the temp and keep the water clean and it's all good. But I've had this happen and that's the meds I used and it worked great. Think its the Mardel TC 2, and it was more expensive then the other one b/c it treated ammonia burn as well with fin and tail rot. It has to have both on the box

Good Luck with him, and keep us updated

Thanks alot im going to go get that stuff earlie in the morning. Ya i had the temp at 80 and had salt for a week and he was getting worse. I hope he makes it, I will defently keep posted

He just looks horible today I really think i waited to long to get meds, now that i found the right med it is clear that it is a fungus, the white clouds have spred all over his body and it looks like eaten his eye all over night, I waited so long because every one told me not to use meds, now i wish i woudnt have listend , he looks so bad im not shur if he is going to make it.

it's not a matter of not listening, it's a matter of being pro-active about the situation, the last that anyone had heard from you about this was that you were going to leave him in the QT tank with the salt and higher temp... which according to you was working just fine... you can't blame those who helped you if you didn't keep updating them with any possible changes.

Not to mention the Photos make it alittle hard to see exactly what the problem is so they gave you the typical answer. These situations are hard to figure out sometimes with the discriptions being so similar.

Try the meds, I'm sure you'll be surprised at just how resilant these little fellas are ;)

Ya I guess you learn from your mistakes and i shur will learn from this one, I will know more next time. I medicated him this morning but he was to far gone to come back, he was active but looked like sh*%@. About 4o'clock i could tell he wasnt going to make it because he started to tilt like he was going to float then he would swim a little, then stop and start to tilt. I did a small water change to see if that would help and then sat and watched for an hour till he took his last few gulps of air then stoped moveing. Barbosa was a great fish and will be miss. He was my first death and im shur its not the last , it just something that happens, I know i did all i could. It was a mouth fungus Im shur of it, his mouth was a little swollen then the got the red scrapes around his mouth and then on his head then he got a little better then he got way worst in one night then all of a sudden he was engolfed in white fuzzy stuff and his tail fell off in another night. I cryed and cryed and cryed but did not know why it was happeing, why do they get fungus , was it my falt because i have a RTCxTSN and a TSN and a marble achara cat that are all fine. I cleaned there tank out so good and I have a wet dry filter and a Two over the back filters that i replaceed all the filter pads in and cleaned the best i could. Im scared one of them got it to and it is going to spread to all my fish. and it that happens im going to Quit. Sorry for ranting on im just upset that barbosa is gone. thanks for every ones help sorry for the previous statment in the last post. THanks
