Hi every body, please I need any advice I can get right now. My 8 inch RTc swallowed two 1 inch round stones. Why I will never know. He nots looking so good right now. His belly is really swollen. Breathing very hard. Hope He can pull through. Its been in his stomach for at least 10 hours.

so your saying if i overfeed him, he will spit them out. can someone confirm this. i don't want to make it worse. i got to save him..

I dont think that it needs to be overfed. That will pollute the water and stress an already stressed fish further. I would give him time and i think he will regurgitate it.

Hi,

hopefully your cat will regurgitate the stones as hes is not big enough to pass them if they are 1 inch stones.

They can be surgically removed but finding a specialist vet and the costs are very expensive. it has been done with fish that swallow algea magnets and such like.

The overfeeding idea may work but its too much of a risk for rtc as they are so sensitive..

i would play the waiting game and hope he coughs it up.

Rtc's swallow everything and i doubt he ment to swallow the stones i would remove any small tank decorations.

i have been lucky with my rtc but my oscar used swallow gravel and have a bulging stomach and then reguritate them a day or so later.

my rtc is 24 inches and hes in a 400 gallon vat with a clown knife 20" and a few cichlids.

your dat could be dinner when th rtc gets bigger...

my biggest rtc got to 38" and died at ten years old during a power failure while i was on holiday.
