That calulator doesn't account for the thickness of the acrylic (or glass). My tank, for example, is 96x24x36 with 1 inch thick acrylic, so it's 315g. That calulator puts it at 360g. Thickness may account for the difference here.

Someone here once posted a site with a volume calculator not long ago that includeed thickness, but I can't remember who. Anyone have a link?

it is a 8*3*3
i did not work out the volume(i dont know how to?) a guy in the aquatics shop did
who can you trust

8x3x3 is a minimum size tank for 1 RTC an acquaintance of mine had one for years in a 6x3x2 but it out grew it in the enD. they can get to 4ft-5ft long. It’s a bit of a waste for 1 fish with such good sized tank. Get a Leiarius Pictus a striking looking fish gets to 2 ft. Or Pseudodoras Niger 33 in there are loads of cats that you could mix as I say you could get away with it but it would be your only fish.

The problem with Gallons could be

Gallons (UK) A British imperial capacity measure (liquid or dry) equal to 4 quarts or 4.545 liters.
Gallons (US) United States liquid unit equal to 4 quarts or 3.785 liters.

so going by this 405 could be 487

Mmmmmmmmmmm i dont know might be

Bigger in the USA:naughty:

Regardless of which size it is it's to small to hold one for life, I mean you are looking at a fish that's not only long but very heavy to. Your tank will hold one for a while but if you plan on keeping it for the long haul you will need to upgrade, 750gal minimum 120x48x30. :)

Not 100% true. How does a 4-5 foot fish turn in a tank thats 3 feet deep and 3 feet wide?;)

Ok what I am trying to say here is how many people have RTC here? Well I can tell you lots! And how many are in 4 or 5 or 6 ft tanks? Well an 8x3x3 is a dam good start and will last a long time. But not for life as I said a friend had one in a 3 foot wide 6 foot and it out grew that.Hens the picture showing what you are getting into :D Make a dam good tank for a red snakehead though:thumbsup:
