wow what a read man, from begging to end, you've come along nicely. One suggestion instead of one 300 in the middle you should put 2 in each corner as they wont have to overwork, you can distribute heat evenly and heat water quicker during water changes. Plus you have a back up

so their growth has slowed down a little bit? do you just let the tank get the natural lighting of the room during the day then have the blue lights on at night? do the blue lights cost anymore to run than normal lights?

yea during the day i just turn the lights in the tank off and let the daylight do its job. its right next to a sliding glass door. and actually i think it takes less to run the actinic then a regular light.

im not sure if the growth has slown down. they definately have a bigger appetite when they do eat. and they have lost their "skiddishness" that they used to have when the lights were on. id say the growth is still th same though. half an inch in less than 2 weeks :)

well thank you! i appreciate that! i had thought of putting another heater in the tank so i could get one on each side. the 1 is just a temp.

im thinkng about putting a 50/50 coralife actinic light in my tank, and turn it on during the normal daylight hours but leaving it off at night.

nice, when you do let me know how it looks

i have to see if my lfs has them in stock. i hope it doesnt affect the fishes coloration at all. isnt lighting just more for aesthetic purposes to the owner unless you are growing plants or have a saltie tank?

yea most lights help with coloration and plant growth... thats about it

so its really just for asethetic purposes in my case then? i can always go back to normal fluorescent lighting if i wish, ill have two other bulbs.

pretty much
