just got back from a 3 day vacation to find my RTC with bumps over most of his head and body...its looks as though he has a light red rash as well over most of his body. his dorsal fin has a shred in it as well. i do not have a water testing kit here. i have 4 peacock bass in the tank as well - all of which seem in fine health. the catfish is swimming around, but looks to be doing it very gingerly...

any have an idea of what is going on, what to do?

see if you can post pictures for a better prognoses. i found out that there dorsal fin is really easy to tare, add salt for faster healing and keep water clean.

i am a tech idiot and have no idea how to post pics...

i am not really concerned about the dorsal fin - more the bumps and reddish rash over his stomach

if hes not eating its a very bad sign....pls post a pic...its impossible to judge...but conduct a water change...raise the temp and hope for the best.

it sucks when you know a pet is suffering and you dont know what to do:(
i remember how it felt when my first one passed on. my prayers are with him.

wish i could post a pic - unfortunately i am probably the only one on this board without a digital camera...he seems to be swimming without much pain or discomfort....the rest of the pbass in the tank seem fine and are eating like normal... will do a water change tonight...and raise temp

hopefully this works out..

do what the other friends here told you.
is there a possibility that the pbass chase after him ?? whats the size of your RTC and the pbass ??
and try to get some water test for pH, NO3 and amonia, at least.

have never seen any aggression from the pbass towards the catfish - all are juvie fish - the catfish is about 6 inches - the PB's range 5-7" (before everyone posts, they will not be in the same tank for long, as the smaller PBass are getting to that "if he were hungry enough, they might not be there in the morning stage)

another water change tonight, and i guess bump up the temp some
