No, the RTC will never learn. I hope the OP learns a lesson - do not have anything swallowable and inedible in an RTC tank.

Usually, if an object cannot pass from stomach into intestine, it is regurgitated. If the fish does not or cannot regurgitate the object, human help is needed in a form of massage or manual reaching in and removal. If the object passes into intestines, the fish will be dead - speaking from experience having lost RTCs before to plastic plants.

I learned that multiple fish, that's one of the reasons I started using sumps, so I can run heaters in there so the fish don't break the heater or hurt themselves and I can have sponge filters in there so the fish can't tear it apart. I personally with monster fish go for either no plants, or hardy rhizome based plants on driftwood and rock.

Haha I actually named him Fatboy as it got older. It’s over 2 ft now in a pool pond outside. Doing great and eating everything haha.
