RTC whisker broken

Only wy to tell male from Female in RTC's is surgically but I wouldn't worry about this being a mating behaviour... more like a "WHAT THE HELL IS THIS thing blocking me from getting over there and kickin your ***"...

P.S. The Timeout thing won't work, you'll need to get one of them a new home... either in another tank or with someone else as they will continue to fight. You will be able to re-introduce them around the 30" mark and you should have much trouble out of them at that point. The Problem is that when Young RTC's fight... it's usually going to end badly for one of them... they either get along.. or not
 
ever heard of a dominatrix? sounds like it likes getting beat to me next thing u know it will want a gimp suit and a gag ball! lol seriously sometimes young catfish (especially rtc and jau) cant coexist when small due to their overwhelming need to compete for food and space to support their massive growth when young. think of it like highlander "there can be only one!
 
i just found it weird that the one getting beaten up ends up trying to be with the one thats beating him up

yeah it's just a temp fix because i didn't have the time. i'm gonna try the "jail-time" tactic and try it again. otherwise i'd just have to put them in separate tanks.

I personally wouldn't bother with the "try it again" as you could lose one or both during the next fight. Better to seperate them now and ensure that they both live ;)
 
My rtc hybrid broke his whisker also, i took everything out of the tank so none of the fish would injure themselves and somehow his whisker still got broken, only thing i could think of is sometimes he will swim fast against the top of the tank, possibly when he did this it opened the top slightly and his whisker got stuck when the top came back down,
