Hi I'm new to the page joined because I have recently begun my journey into aquarium keeping as well as keeping large fish. for quite some time I've had an interest in red tail catfish I began my journey earlier in the year (2023) and happened to come across what I had assumed (and later confirmed through lengthy internet searching and review) to be a rtc x tsn that was just labeled in the store as "hybrid shovelnose" I was hoping to find some people who have kept or currently keep this kind of fish that I could chat with if I have questions and also that wouldn't mind sharing some pictures of what my fish( I've named him/her Harley) will look like as he grows all pictures and information would be greatly appreciated emails are also welcomed but may be missed at adpatenaude13@gmail.com thanks 🙏🙂😎

Welcome!

Thank you! glad to be here. I have visited this page a few times in my searches and, decided to join up to see if I couldn't gain some knowledge and or solid tips. 🤞
I can’t help you much with this question, but you’re definitely in the right place and you should get some info and pics soon

Hi there, I also just started to keep an rtc x tsn hybrid, got it a month ago. It was around 4 inch and now its 6 inches, I feed it around every other day, mine doesn't eat pellets so I feed it earthworms, cut up fish and shrimp. Body shape is very similar to tsn but its personality is more like a rtc. Hope this helps!

Welcome! Just telling if you don’t know already but they can get 3-4 feet+ very fast and will eat tankmates if it just barely fits in their mouth and their isn’t enough space , they are also sensitive to water quality and are susceptible to fin curl, they are really pretty and i would like a hybrid, that’s the basics, have a big tank/pond (5,000+ gallonsish)clean water and big tank mates
( my experience is from my rtc and my research)

Oh yes and at just about 6 inches I'm already on the hunt for the biggest tanks I can afford I have been and as he/she seems to enjoy it plan to continue live feeding, guppies at the moment but will move to goldfish when the time comes maybe some crustaceans and yes big tank mates and mixed level swimmers seem to be what will work for sure
