How much was it? And from where

hybrids grow about the same size as RTCS ie. 4-5 feet max but their bodies are longer rather than fat...kind no in between tsn and rtc. necro has a beautiful specimen. some people say they grow at a faster rate than a RTC

Not long? Jardini's grow 3-4 foot.

I highly dount you could keep an Arapaima in that tank being so small. You look at 'johnptc'. Look at HIS tanks. THATS what you need to correctly house a Arapaima.

For filtration, I would have a 300G sump, a few FX5's for mech and powerheads for current.

I would move the RTC into the 1500G asap. These fish easily grow 2" a month. So why stunt him in a 10G? Let him live long and prosper in the 1500G.

show me.....not doubting - just never seen one in the 4foot range....would love to though!

Actully a 25'x5'x3' tank would be 2800 gallons not 1500 and would weigh close to the same amount as a small car... even made out of acryllic. The tank would require a crane to lift into the back yard and the removal of the roof to get in the house.

To filter a beast of that size would require a large custom made filter system because the bracing on the top of the acryllic would prevent you from using "8 filters" By the way these filters would have to be in the FX5s class...about $1600.00 and even that would be inadiquate. A more realistic sump based system would still run close to 3 grand and would probubly cost about 200.00 per day in extra electricity alone.

You can house a redtailed catfish for life in a tank a fraction that size.

A 2800 gallon tank is also totally inadiquate for an arapima gigas...start thinking in terms of 15,000 gallons plus as a perminate home.

Are there any pictures..isn't a pond cheaper when you go that big

He probably doesn't have to matter of the filter and electricity cost..he can afford a 5,000gallon tank.

and i'm thinking if you want a pirarucu, dig a fricking pond and dig another big hole right undby it so when you go underground..it seems like it's a "tank" since there's a piece of glass that separates you and the pond water.

and i'm also thinking, why get a 4digit tank for a couple inch fish, when it might die in the near future.. wouldn't it be cheaper to keep it in like a 240gallon and then when it get like 2' move to a huge tank..

Cool but where did you find such a big tank and how did you have it delivered? Will it go in the house or stay outside?
