rtcXmarble question

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I wouldnt worry about it much......... I think this batch of hybrids is a little odd. Mine acts differently all the time and also breathes heavily at times for no reason. Only time will tell what these fish are all about.

Good luck......

Mine freaks out alot. Breaths really heavy seems whenever I come close to the tank, but when I am far away he's fine. Unlike my rtc x tsn hybrid which breaths rather slow. Scares me sometimes how slow he breaths. If you are that worried I'd say increase aireation. That's what I did for mine and it seems to freak less and breath a little easier. Still eats like a champ though mostly after lights out. Seems like mine's personality is more like some of the marble catfish I have had in the past than it is like the rtc.

Hmm here is my filter set up in my 125 gallon:
1x Ehiem 2028
1x Marineland 400 Hang on Filter
1x 450 GPH Powerhead (JEBO)
1x 350 GPH Powerhead (JEBO) Oposite direction

These are my catfish:
2x 4 Line Pictus
1x Pictus
1x Lima Shovel Nose
1x Marbled Redtail Catifsh (Wolf3101 Thought of the name)

The pictus's run around alot so they are almost CONSTANTLY breathing hard...until lights go off and they cant see the reflection of the tank. My lima and MRTC breath slow and relaxed...I understand that if you generally keep alot of water movement and filtration on each end catfish will love it...(hense the powerheads) In truth I need 1 more canister/hang on filter...to clean the water to my quality standards, but SA cats seem to love fast airy water...try adding a powerful/more powerful powerhead/jet in your tank to get the current up a little...

sorry to hear about that...im learning that there is a "TIME" that is beside your first post....so sorry bout posting so late...did you order another one?? For future reference...its help....

No. I didnt feel like ordering one right after that happend. There is another thread about what happend to him. I just didnt want it to happen again

must have had something else wrong with him to cause the passing. i've had mine for 9 days now and he's been breathing heavy ever since he's been home. but since then he's tripled his size from a small 2.5" to a beefy 6". he's growing faster than anything i've seen.
