I plan to keep my baby hybrid for life... But I am worried because people are saying that because they are a hybrid a lot get sick and die (for no reason) how common is this? Also, how long can I expect him to live?

I'ver never kept either RTC x TSN, TSN Or RTC. But from what ive read you shouldnt have any problems. They are however supposed to grow to a size of about 100cm or larger.
But again, ive never kept any of them so dont hold me up on it :)

Though about keeping them once, so i read up on them a little.

I haven't seen anybody ever mention anything about hybrids being more susceptible to disease or sudden death, can you link some threads where people told you that? I'm just curious because I've always seen the exact opposite in regards to hybrids of these cats.

I myself have kept hybrids(RTC/TSN and TSN/Achara) and never experienced any problems, they where every bit as hardy as RTC's, TSN's and Achara's that I had. The only reason that I could see for sudden death or disease problems is improper keeping of the fish in inadequate accommodations and in that case most fish regardless of being hybrids or not would be susceptible to both.

Not just get sick and die but grow to the point that they out-compete their filtration and WC schedule then get sick and die, outgrow their tank then get sick and die, or when properly cared for have a shorter lifespan, at least that's the impression I get.

RTC, TSN, and hybrids there of die early because 99.9% of owners are not equipped to properly care for a massive fish for the decades it could live.

If you build it a 10,000+ gallon home and care for it very well, you can join that 0.1% that has it live a long happy life.
