My hybrid is now 5inches,i had him since he was 3inches.He grew 2inches in about 2weeks do you think i can get him to eat carnivore sinking pellets if i buy it? He is hand trained and will eat from my hand already ive just been feeding him feeders, frozen blood worms mixed with dry shrimp trying to get him to eat pellets n dry shrimp. any ideas? or is it to ealry?

It shouldn't be a problem. I was feeding my RTC pellets and krill together along with trout worms and night crawlers since he was 3 inches... IMO it would be better sooner than later.

thanks sounds good haha im trying grow my hybrid out another 1 or 2 inches so he can live with my oscar and jag

Okay well be careful. Those cats grow close to 2-3" a month and can reach 24" in their first year of life. They can get 3 feet long or so. They also like to eat anything and everything that will fit in their mouth so it might not be long till your beloved cichlids are devoured in the middle of the night. Just a warning. My advice would be take him back to the lfs now while he is still small. Otherwise he could experience stunting from a small tank, as well as eat your fish in the process.

alot of pet stores wont take these guys once they reach a size for two reasons:
1. they dont have facility to house a large fish such as this
2. they have a hard time selling the large fish such as this

not to mention housing this cat with your other could be dangerous, i had a 9in rtc eat a 12in pleco.... just be careful. and watch what u post on here you could get flamed for this, alot of people dont like it when you buy a cat knowing itll get huge and just plan on reselling it. Everyone has seen to many occassions where large cats are housed in extremely small tanks.... needless to say people on here get really upset, they love their fish, as we all do

yea sorry i was just curious and wanted to see other peoples experience.I research about the fishes i get but i like hearing more tips etc.

understandbale, im the same way. just be careful is all im saying, ive been flamed a few times and its no fun haha, makes ya feel like crap. personally if you have no intention at all of upgrading id say sell them off now or trade them to someone on here who you can get some money from or a good trade for another fish that you could keep in your tank for life. However if there is the possibility you may be able to upgrade to something around 150gal soon and eventually to something around 800 to 1000 gals then go ahead and grow them out and see what you can get going with them
