I used to live in San Diego so I know that temps do get down to the point u would need to heat it. Ideally u need 75 degree water so everyday that it is below that you will need to supplement several thousand watts of power to heat it depending on how large your pond is. In all even in socal you will be spending a bunch of money on heating alone
