hes been back to normal, he chows everything that hits the water. thanks for all the help and tips, and if nothing else, the encouraging words. i would have been sad if the 500g tank i got for him was a waste if he died

I hear that. These guys are alot of work and money and fun personalities. Glad to hear all is good, new it would be they always get funny with tank changes in my experience.

only reason i worried, i could see hes was noticably skinnier and his belly was starting to sink in. you are right though, he eats me out of house and home, but hes the only fish ive ever had that gets that excited to see me, and he swims over for me to pet him and just kinda wiggles back and forth just like a puppy
