Hey guys! Thanks for reading this.

I have had my RTG for about 3 weeks now its about 9" I recently added a Aquaclear 110 along with my Marineland Emp. Filter to my 75 gallon tank. With the Aquaclear filter there is a carbon bag with the sponge that is part of the 3 stage cleaning process. About a week after adding the aquaclear i noticed a white dot on my arrows head, the white dot started off small and is slowly spreading. its been only a day so far. So what I read online is that it has something to do with the carbon bag in my Aquaclear filter. So i took the carbon bag out and added more cotton to fill up the gap in my filter. Turned up the Temperature so it's now 31C and I added about 2 soup spoons of salt cause I did a water change 4 days ago and haven't added any salt since 2 water changes and it was recommended for 'head rot' from my research online (i do 10% water change once a wk). I did some more research online and most forums say its best to add salt and up the temp to 31C for a few days.

So I just want to know if anyone has a better and faster idea on how to take care of that white dot on the head of my RTG (before it gets worse =( ) or should i just follow the method that I researched online?

The first pic is the best head shot i can get on my arrow since he/she is always moving its hard to get a clear shot of that white dot. Sorry about the blurry pic. Hope all of you enjoy the rest of the pics.

Thanks for your time.

Cliff.

Can't really see but being the owner of an RTG i would say your fish has bumped it head and the white dot is a scratch. That's what they look like when the scrach themselves buy jumping or bumping into something, especially if the scratch is on the dark green area of the head. few days it''ll be gone.

I think he jumped up and hit the glass top or filter. Lower the water level in 2 inches and don't put carbon in any asian arowana

Thanks classic and evbal for replying. So it's not head rot huh? How does head rot even look like? Peeling skin ?

Come to thinking Bout it he/she did jump up and bump the glass canopy when I accidentally dropped the mealworm ontop of glass while trying to feed. Since the white dot hasn't been there long I'll drop the temp back to 82F, stop the salt adding and wait a few days to see what happens.

Can you, the OP, really see the white spots yourself because I can't, lol? Anyway, for that tank size, I'd recommend doing 40%-50% w/c weekly, and maximize tank's volume by not lowering water level. Lowering water level actually helps minimizing head damages if the fish decided to jump. And I'd like to keep the temperature at 82F-86F too.

Very nice RTG, BTW!

Also if the RTG tends to pick up food from the bottom, keep an eye on the stones or switch to using sand as there are cases reported of aros swallowing small stones accidentally. I personally saw my jardini scooping up food into his mouth along with small rocks several times and spitting them out. But I went and removed the gravel after hearing those cases, and now my tank is bare bottom. An RTG is a lot of money so be aware about this.

I've always thought it was meant for "Original Poster", but I never asked to confirm it.

English is not my first language though lol

Yah I want to do bare bottom as well but there needs to be something on the bottom to cover up reflections of the rtg itself. Otherwise the rtg will keep looking down and develope drop eye. I've thoght of sand but sand is hard to clean with my anaconda suction tube. Right now it's just 1 layer of pebbles so I can sweep to clean out debris. I hope my rtg is smart enough to not confuse hard pebbles as food lol... Cause I don't think cpr on a fish is a good idea. But I usually watch him eat and what drops to the bottom I net it out right away.
