Yes it does mean original poster, also i keep my rtg at 80 to 82 with sand and its alot easier to keep clean than gravel, great rtg by the way.
Yours has more than likely banged his head like said before, mine does it all the time and the other day he lost the big scale on top of his head and found it later and ate it lol and its healed already lol.
And mine eats from wherever his food is ,top bottom middle other fishes mouths my arm lol.

becareful with the rocks. Mine RTG swallowed a rock once and it's the worst feeling. Luckily he's big enough that it pass through his digestive track. I just do bare bottom on my quarantine tank and in the main tank i use golf ball size rock and sand.

A ROCK? Passing through you RTG's digestive system?? omg... I would be soo worried lol... musta freaking hurt for the RTG to pass it out. I could only imagine it be like pissing rocks for me. Never had that and hope never will... But Sand does sound good..... I wanted sand originally but I thought it would be a real chore... Doesn't the sand at the bottom get really durty/ slimmy??? AND how would I change the pebbles now to Sand? Cause if I just throw in the sand it would be all over the tank. Do i need to take RTG out and let the sand settle before letting my RTG back in the tank?

OK guys so i took out my nicer digital camera instead of using my iphone and took a couple of more shots of this white dot on my RTG. I think its spreading. Does this still look like accidental injury to you guys? or something else?

I have sand bottom on my larger tank for my ray and it's ok so far. I did some research about cleaning it. It's not that hard. Just suck the sand out of the tank once every 6 month or so and clean it. once clean just put it in a bucket that can fit inside the tank and let it drop to the bottom and release the sand. It sinks to the bottom and doesn't float everywhere. Don't need to take the RTG out.

Black Sand sounds amazing right now.... I think I might do that. Though keeping the bottom bare isn't so bad either its very simple and easy to clean. If I see anything in the bottom I just net it out. easy... But Black Sand really would make a big difference and look a LOT nicer.

Hmmm.....

if you dont like reflection on the bottom of the tank and as lazy as i am go for tiles bottom. dont bother with changing subtrates right now, your fish is going to out grow this tank real soon.

yah i thought about tiles. Right now the tank is bare and I've been finding it extremely fast and easy to clean. So if its not going to cause DE then I'm just gonna leave it like that. Probably will do tiles later when I upgrade. Don't things get stuck underneath the tiles though? through the cracks and gaps?
