I paid $1130 Canadian ($1000 U.S.) for a 7" HBRTG in Manitoba, Canada. Expensive but it was worth it.

Depends on size, quality and which farm it came from. I've seen them range in price locally from about $600 to over $2K. I traded a bunch of fish for mine. Retail would have been in the $1400 + tax range.
which farm yours came from gerry? bunch of fishes??

as for the price.. $125, hahahaha...

I've bought and sold over a dozen in the SF Bay area without any problems. I've bought and sold gold xback, reds, rtgs, hbrtgs. (No I don't have any I'de part with right now)

The biggest problem is not the aro police, but scammers. Almost everyone on aquabid is only a scammer, they will take your money but never deliver. They are easy to spot by their fake feedbacks, like PJ bettas, MonsterKok, Wustiad etc. type sellers. They only take money, but have NEVER delivered an asian to usa. I've seen photos from both of them which are clearly photos from pet shops as evidenced by the millions of aquariums in the reflections of the glass on the fish tank they took photos of and then said it was in their own houses-stupid liars.

Never deal with anyone who wants western union or refuses to get paid on delivery. I've used paypal about 7 times successfully. This way the seller's true ID can remain anonymous as well as mine and Paypal refuses law enforcements requests for information. The process paypal forces them to go through to get the proper subpoenas takes 5-6 months, and the lazy cop police simply go away to the easy stuff. I can tell you this because I have personal experience of being called by an undercover agent and enjoyed frustrating him.

People/stores that sell asians come and go. Sometimes stores that will sell asians take a break from it for a while when the heat gets too high.

The truth is the feds have their heads sooooo far up their a**es they are easy to avoid. I've sold a few of my asians on aquabid and craigslist and easily avoided problems when the feds (aro police) called me. I just avoided admitting I knew they were illegal and the dude just went away frustrated! Ha ha. It WAS that easy. Since I wouldn't admit they were illegal, he wasn't interested. It was easy to spot the cop because he knew nothing about arowana, I mean nothing. These guys have way too many different species to go after, and they are very lazy, so if you don't make it too easy for them, they are not much to worry about, just don't be stupid. By the way, they only work monday-friday 8-5 so if your emails only get returned during those "work" hours, be aware of who you are likely talking to.

That being said, I have many friends with asian arowana who bought them at local fish shops over the last few years. The market seems very dry right now, probably because someone just got seriously busted. I heard from people who know people that the guy that got busted was bragging about how he was smuggling in the fish to anyone who would listen, that is what got him busted.

Right now I am looking for real Pahang Golds. If anyone can get real pahang golds, and not hormoned greens, please contact me. By PahangGold XB I mean the ones with the gold on the side of the eye and pectoral fins. I know my fish and it is difficult to fool me., but I also pay well.

Be sure to show the eye and fin of an adult in the photo..... oh wait you can't.
