Trying to get a 9" rtg and a 16" black/blue to live together. what do u guys think of the chances? anyone managed to do it? tank is 7ft x 2.5ft x 2.5ft with many smaller inhabitants that they have no interest in. I

t's a week on now and after the black/blue took the early upper hand by doing some fin damage to the rtg which although smaller is much thicker but now the rtg is fighting back and shows no new signs of damage and has dished out a couple of marks to the tail of the black and 1 on the head. Nothing serious so far so hopefully these are just early power struggles and it'll settle down but interested to here others views.

Here's a few pics of the pair

I dont know if it will work or not. But can you afford for it to fail? These aren't $2.00 fish.

threes better than two!!! a lot better... even out the aggression and stress! if you can add another a silver or any... there is a comparible silver on ebay at the mo, think... dont remeber wen it ends.. its in essex, i do rember that...

keep the experiment but keep your eyes open. My worries would lie in the RTG, they are much meaner than blacks.

yeah it's definitely heart in mouth at times! The rtg is starting to worry me, at first i was worried for him as the black bullied him for 2 days but now it's the other way round except the asian is marking the head of the black whereas the black just did some fin missing. Hopefully this is just the asian asserting himself after the initial bullying from the black but if it continues for the next few days and the fights get worse i may have to give up on the idea.

i whould take them out of the tank along with every other fish, re-do the decorations, add a big dumb fish like a big pangassius or any fish that they can be distracted with, maybe even another arowana, and stick them in all at the same time... this really will cool down your arowanas. i had to do this twice to put my 8 arowanas together ;) remember it should be at least 3, asians even say "it's one or five with arowanas".

good luck.

and here's my aro tank :D now it's diferent again.. will update soon ;)
