I totally agree with everything you're saying, BUT, whose going to pay? Who will pay for all the aros? Who will pay for the facilities? Who will pay for the food for aros to eat? Who will pay for the electricity to run everything? Who will pay workers to work? I dont think Obama has a couple million in spare change to lend out right now.

Another bad argument, there are plenty of people with the financial ability to fund this sort of project, look at what Mike from H20 aquatics is doing with rays.

A couple million is not a small sum of money. I highly doubt mike has a couple million to spend each year for 5-6 yerars before he starts getting income in from fry. Where would you find enough people to raise a couple milliion each year for 5-6 years?

ah alright who's the idiot and also stupid? i think its not me, because someone post a thread about a platinum lei which is a asian arowana (sigh) you cant even distinguish an asian arowana or you might use it as an excuse to bring your so called platinum lei ( which an asian arowana to the U.S. )i think its like you answer your own question. i know that you're whining about asian arowanas, like oh i want to move to canada to have SR arowanas.

First off, I ahd no clue if a 2213 was enough to seed a 2217 :screwy: its got nothing to do with fish itself. 40 gallon tank was for my new retic, one which i needed to treat with prazi:screwy: Second off, maybe you should actually learn to read things before you talk, I have never starved a ray for more than 2 weeks. Its pretty obvious they're fine for 2-4 weeks, but Ive been going on for 8 :screwy: Id think that after 6 weeks you'd start getting a bit worried:screwy: One question though, does the amount of threads I make really reflect on what I know? BTW, why do I even care if you believe in my collection or not? I dont know you, you dont know me. I couldn't care less about what you think, and I bet you couldn't care less about what I think either. And stop avoiding the question, All you can do is say is my opinion is wrong on the ban on US, but all you can probably think of is "the ban is stupid" becuase you dont understand a damn thing. Im also not the one asking if an aro (that obviously has colouring on its tail and doesnt have shine on the top) is platinum...You tell ME to keep myself out of other people's business, why do you care if I post my collection or not? I can post them whenever the damn hell I feel like it.

You are the one who needs to read.... Like I care on what you do with your tank or ray, or your opinion on the ban... Since you brought up the question on why would you be jealous on an RTG, I'm asking for pics of what you listed in your sig, to show you why would you're jealous on an RTG! :screwy: Other than that, MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS! :headbang2

How does everyone know so much about arowana conservation and the costs of running a farm?

Come on now, almost everyone on this forum has no clue as to how the arowana industry works, including myself!

With an exception of a select few, i do not think many posters, including myself, truly understand the complex responsibilities and demands of the industry- but with that said, anyone with any sense of reason can spot flawed laws with weak and yes-fishy arguments.

Having a maximum penalty of $250,000 and/or up to 5 yrs of prison for importing the fish, the public is paying for incarceration, someone else is actually making money off the crime, rare fishes may even be killed, and the "criminal" loses a bit of reality in jail- as his/her neighbors to the North are easily importing/selling these highly prized fish.

So while the challenges of breeding Asian arowana in "controlled" environments are magnanimous, it is necessary to reform our regulations to better serve hobbyist/and the native pop of fishes- rather than perpetuate the hypocrisy and absurdness within the law.

On a side note: Corrupt businessmen who carelessly flaunt illegally(under current law) imported arowanas and try to take advantage of their customers- they deserve the criticism- and even threats of exposure. lol.

There always has to be a lot cop around... Who cares where he is. The title of the thread it RTG, NOT my RTG! Sheesh!

I agree.... the "Moral Police" is out on patrol on something that doesn't even have to do with "Morals". Mind your business, don't derail his post. If you want to argue about the "threatened population of Asian Arowanas" then start your own post.

Go enjoy your 15 Chili Red Arowanas ......

Personally I'd rather never legally be allowed to own an Asian Arowana in the United States then have to claim Martin Short as a fellow Canadian!
