my uncles 2yr old silver arrowna laid eggsin a 180gallon, just no male to fertilize.. cant be that hard to breed arrowana, compared to stingrays, but silvers are so cheap ,why breed them, unless you have access to reds or gold arrowannas. its not profitable to breed arrowannas in the USA

go to arofanatics check their article and you can see that silver arowanas breed easily compared to asian arowanas. if it is easy to breed asian arowanas then there is no reason why to ban this fish in your country and the numbers in the wild had improved.

that is if asian farms would ONLY sell their goods to the U.S.. but if you will include other countries that frequently buy asian arowanas the story will be different. asian people would pay more money to buy an asian arowana so asian farmers would rather sell their stocks to asian countries. i just went to a LFS and while i was buying supply for my asian arowana, i saw a man purchased sa Super red asian arowana and that SR did not lasted a week in that LFS see how asian people buy asian arowanas.

FH is a different fish in can be easily bred and they can have an offspring of like 100 or more so there is a high chance that 10-15 of those offspring grew to be a show class FH. why pay big for a high quality imported FH were you can pay small for a local high quality FH. almost all of the FH looks almost the same now, unlike before when the age of FH just started. and you can even improve their looks by feeding them high end foods. going back to asian arowanas their arent enough supply for you guys because the main market of asian arowana farms is ASIA because there are more people who would buy these fish rather than in your country. so if the ban was lifted in the U.S. many people in the U.S. would immediately buy asian arowanas then the stock dwindles, no more stock. then here comes the poachers they can insert chips to wild caught arowanas and they can make fake certificates. wild arowanas are cheaper compared to captive bred ones.

So i guess Canada and the UK only have Asians living there since farms exports aros them.
