NOT legal in the US. You might want to settle for the legal ones, unless you are like some of the "guys" that takes a chance and sometimes get away with it. I've seen some for sale on one of the auction sites.

no RTG are not legal in the US

Sad to hear RTG is not legal in US......
must get more people to sign the petition....in the hope of US government legalize the keeping of asian aro there......

Sign petition also no use one lah.... they say untill the countries which the asian arowanas are indigenous to do something to make them no longer endangered, then they will allow.

ya, coz now those aros in the market are farm breed. The real wild aros are almost extinct already, even if you catch one at the singapore resoviour, i bet they are tagged arowanas released by hobbiest..

why dont they breed them specifically to be released back into the wild?

due to its high price, releasing it back into nature will encourage poacher. Further more, the farms need to be profitable........so why not sell all the fries and gain revenue instead of releasing a portion back into nature.

so owning an asian arowana in the us won't be a reality unless the farms are releasing a portion of their fries back into nature as a conservation program to increase the numbers in the wild.

i think that is why asian arowanas is currently now allowed into the us.
