100 gallons is perfect for a pair. I believe the motas you have are rio blanco as well. You should ask him to confirm.

Ok cool im glad that will work. Also, since this thread got moved to the media lounge, thought Id post this better pic I was able to get of the dominant rtm. This little guy is already so aggressive and brave!

Thanks man! He's eating NLS flake food. Should be easy for him to digest for now until he grows a bit, then Ill start with the 1mm cichlid formula and thera+A! :) Any advice? I dont know how prone they are to parasites or diseases, but I feed them enough garlic and lots of water changes w/ temp set to 82deg.

Flakes are nice but you can also try the NLS small fish formula. It's .5 mm and works excellent. It's what I fed my rtm when I was growing them out. Rtm are hardy fish so you don't have to worry much. Just keep up with what you're doing because everything seems right. They're gonna do great! What's the tank size currently?

Cool! Current take size is a 30gallon since im all out of space atm but since their so small id figure they would be ok for now. in a about 1month I will move them into a 60g I have for a couple more months, then I plan on getting them that 75-100gallon for the pair. Is that ok?
I will look into that .5mm too!

The 30 gallon will be ok temporarily but will need to be upgraded as they grow. Rtm are very aggressive and the most dominant will pick on the weaker ones leaving them with little food or no food at all especially in smaller tanks. But if your plans fall through with the upgrades they should be fine. I grew my rtm in a 60 gallon and they did good. Sold the rest and kept the best pair for myself.

Ok thanks so much for the help. I can already see how aggressive the dominant one is, so I will definitely give them the 60gallon w/ plenty of hiding spots. I wonder if I can keep some of my electric blue jack dempseys with them? They are currently bigger than the RTM and a bit aggressive, but im sure in the future, it will be the other way around and the ebjd will not survive :(
Oh well, thanks again Tydus, and hopefully my pair grows out to be stunners like yours and I will share the pics with you!
