I am growing out 2 small Jags, 4 RTMs, and 2 Salvini in a 220. They are all about 2". What are the chances the RTMs will pair without isolating them? I have paired many cichlids in the past but I have isolated them and forced them to pair. My fear is that the RTMs will pair with a Jag or Salvini. Should I just isolate them in a seperate growout tank or are my fears unfounded?

There will be high chances that they will form a pair as they mature , I had Jaguars in a community , which did well to pair up .
You have some time before you need to isolate them , you can very easily observe the behavioral pattern .
I would worry if you put them in a separate tank at this age , they might start picking on each other till the only one survives.
But none of the above can be completely correct as Cichlids have a mind of their own.

I'm actually referring to the RTMs. I want them to pair. I'm not concerned with the Jags. Do you think the Motas will pair as well?

In my 240 I have:
1 male RTM
3 female RTM
2 male jag
-also 2 female umbee

All 3 female RTM take turns spawning with the male RTM (lucky dude) and they never show any interest in the male jags. All started in tank as young adults, now they are medium to large sized adults.

That male has the tank by the b@lls! That scenario is what I am hoping for in this tank. I will isolate the fry as I usually do once they are free swimming. I'm stoked to hear it worked for someone!
