That is insane and I would absolutely love to see a 50cm festae in person. They're impressive enough at 12-14" and tall, I can't imagine what a monster a 20" male festae would be. At any rate, I'd be shocked if these hybrids got anywhere close to 14", but we'll see how it goes.
I would have kept the festae pair originally if I had trusted them in the tank together without worry, but the male would randomly get rough with her and I was terrified I'd wake up to a murder scene. I didn't feel like the stress was worth the effort, nor did I want a divided tank look. I think I may just stick with less aggressive cichlids in the future to avoid that scenario again. It's not so much of a worry here - probably sounds terrible but I wouldn't be nearly as upset as if it was the festae pair.
