I use them to transport fish. I do something even more simple than building a wood frame to eliminate the bowing. I just put a ratchet strap around it. Simple and very effective.

The strap reinforcing works well. But be careful of the bottom.
I used one that was just over 3X1X1 filled to the top with a strap. Worked great for about a month. But it had little feet on the corners. Eventually the plastic cracked and leaked. Make sure you get a flat bottom. That might be obvious. But I used what I already had laying around.

Of course I didn't use a foam base or anything. That would help for the long term.
Mine was sitting on thick carpet with a good cushion underlay. Not good enough.
