I've been seeing fish labeled as Rubbernose plecos around the LFSs in my area recently and was wondering if any of you have kept one before. I've also had some trouble getting much information about them including their proper scientific name. I've seen them called Rubberlip, Rubber, and Bulldog plecos as well.

Yes rubberlipped seems to be the most common name. It maxs out around 5 inches and cleans algae pretty good. It is a peaceful pleco and a vegetarian but will eat flakes as well. Easy to maintain and very common. Perfect for smaller tanks and large one as well.

I have 2 & they're great. They stay small & eat well. Kinda shy, but the best pleco I've ever owned. I never found any good scientific info on them either. No idea why...

Really? They're peaceful plecos? I don't know why I was under the impression that they're aggressive. Hm...

naw.. their not aggressive quite the opposite actually.. very quiet plecos.. and arent hostel at all.. However.. they do stay small and are no bigger than 4-5" max...
