Okay, fellow MFKers, about two months ago I wanted to move one my peacock bass into another tank because it kept attacking my other three peacocks. I just got into aquariums in Sept 2007 and is fairly new at this.
At first I was kind of iffy about moving him (from a 125 to a 40) and I hesitated for a couple of days then went into PetSmart and had asked one of the workers there if I can move it without any problems. I told him the ph on the 125 was 6.8 and the ph on the 40 was 7.8. He said, with confident, that I could do it without any problems. So I came home and moved the peacock to the 40 gallon...a couple days later my AWESOME peacock died. I was so furious I was gonna go postal at Petsmart. Then I found out:
I was suppose to siphon water from the old tank into the new tank if I wanted to move a fish to keep the water parameters the same
I should of bagged up the fish and let it sit in the new water before releasing it into the new tank
But it was way too late.....
Maybe this topic should be made into a "Sticky" so newbies shouldn't have to go thru this.
How do you guys do it?
