running carbon with Oscars

i thought it was the fact that people thought they didnt have to do as much water changes since they had carbon, and thus resulted in dirty water and HITH. Never had problems with oscars and carbon before, I thought hole in the head was from stress and water quality (high nitrates).

I am not sure as I havn't kept oscars for too long but I remember a thread about this about a month or 2 ago on here

I've been told to remove the carbon while treating.

Carbon will remove many medications from the water.

Ran carbon in the tank with my Oscar for over 2 years and he's still going strong with no HITH, carbon's not the cause, but I do agree above, if you were treating for something with medication the carbon will remove the med's..

but i used carbon in my fishtank for about 1/2 a year and it was fine up till now
