But it will still allow particles to bypass because when it clogs it will wont allow water to filter throw and will overflow from the edges, that is why i wanted to force water through the micron filter sock. Wet Drys are bad at mechanical filtration with pads only

i have a friend that runs a big wet dry with the pink and white filter pads and his water is crystal clear. if your getting bypass, try putting a pad on the drip plate and a pad ontop of the bio balls.

FX5 is great, but if you want a pure mechanical filter you should consider and ocean clear or nu-clear canister connected to a pump.

Sounds great, but how do i connect it? Can i connect the output pump from my wet dry to it and a hose on the other side leading to the tank?
