Rupununi (Guyana) 125g biotope update

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I agree with you 100% I loved my hemiodus, too bad they are nearly impossible to find around here, I've only seen them twice in lfs within the last 5 years.

I got mine from Aquatek in Austin, TX, but have also seen them for sale online. WetSpot in Portland has some now, if you're willing to shell out for shipping:

Red Tail Hemiodus, Hemiodopsis gracilis, 3", $6.00, 6 for $30.00

Very nice biotope. Guyana cichlids are some of my favorite's. I hope to go collecting there one day.

Here are a couple of new videos of the tank, one from a distance showing the full-tank shot (which is the only way I can get my Mesonauta guyanae to cruise around while filming--shy rascal), the other a close up of most of the species (Geophagus nr. dicrozoster (1), Geophagus cf. abalios (2), Geophagus winemilleri juveniles (2), Satanoperca leucostica (2), Satanoperca sp. 'Guyana red lips' (1), Guianacara stergiosi (mated pair, oh my are they a mated pair...), Krobia guianensis (1), Apistogramma steindachneri (lone female), Crenicichla regani (1 male), Mesonauta guyanae (1 female), Acarichthys heckelli (1), Hemiodopsis gracilis (4), and Baryancistris sp. (L81, not from Guyana, I cheated).
