Rusty slate?

I am going to try a product called "thin" granite to build a cave. The granite is supposed to be 1/4 inch thick. I'll let you know if it works out.

I have a large piece of flat granite. I thought it was really cool because of Granite's crystiline structure it fractures much more frequently in blocks than in flat slate like pieces. A cousin found it on a fishing trip in Canada and hauled it back.

It's the only platter like piece of granite I have ever seen that has not been fabricated...I circled it in the picture of my 110. It's about 20 inches long and 12 inches wide at its fatest and not more than about 3/4 of an inch at its thickest

Oh, and the cheapest place to pick up slate is your local landscape supply company. PRetty much all the rockwork in the above tank was just over 100 pounds. Cost me about $30. There is a piece of slate I had already on the left, the piece of granite and the piece of petrified wood in the bottom middle. The rest I bought at a landscape supply company.

When I told the guy what I was looking for he helped me find ones with cool color patterns. All the blocky gray stuff in the tank has dark wavy striations in it that doesn't show up well from a distance. Look at my avatar. You can see the striations behind my OB....

Beautiful tank, fish, rockwork and plants. What kind of lighting are you using and what size tank? Are you using CO2?
