s&w .500

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
one reason is i want one in my collection. second is i want to kill some large dangerous game with a hand gun at some point.

hows the acuracy on them(the long barrel, i would never get one with the snub barrel)

If you are interested in the 500, check out the 460 S&W magnum. It can fire 3 different caliber ammo so its not limited to the expensive 500 round.
It fires 45 long colt, 454 casull and 460 S7W Magnum. Thats the gun I bought. I did consider buying the 500 but found the 460 more practical

i was looking at the .460 aswell. i may have to get one of them also. for the different rounds do you just have to change the cylinder or do they fit into the .460's cylinder? also is the .460 a 6 or 5 shot? i can't remember.

it is just something about the 500 that screams to me "YOU MUST OWN AND SHOOT ME!!!"

You do not have to change any cylinder. 3 different calibers fits the same 5 round cylinder, i know the 500 may be the heaviest caliber but remember the 460 has the fastest muzzle velocity out of a handgun. Speed kills. Google it, I know you will buy the right gun that is if you are serious in getting one and not BS'ing in the forums.

i wasn't sure cause my uncle has a 22 mag revolver and he was saying that he could get the LR cylinder for it, so i wasn't sure if this was simmilar.

i am serious. i have just always wanted a 500. i may just get the 460 like you suggest as it seemed like a nice gun when i was looking at them. i just had tunnle vision when i saw the 500. in the end i think i will get a 500 at some point, just to have and shoot for fun. on the hunting the .460 does seem optimal. as for funds and shooting, shooting my 10ga is getting outright expensive! i have a .7mm rem mag and thats not cheap to shoot either. some one said when i got it to just get a 30-06 or a .270, but i love my .7 mag.:screwy:

did you get the 460xvr? i was just looking at it on s&w.com it was about the same price as the 500 aswell, that may have been why i was just like "500 ya woo" and put it down without looking into its potential..

the 460 and the 500 share the same frame size for the Smith And Wesson. Both guns identical except for caliber size. I have the 460 with the 8 inch barrel. Any longer barrels just looks goofy. My 8 inch barrel makes the gun look symmetrical and balanced. And for those who think Im just talkin out of my arse,,,
