That's an African rather than a South American Lungfish; not sure of exact species. It's a beauty, too! :)

I don't think that an African lungfish would let a Ctenopoma and raphael catfish alive. That's why I'm assuming it's 100 percent a South American lungfish.

I'm 90% certain that there's at least a 75% chance that it's more than 80% absolutely an African. But let's wait for one of the Guys Who Know to show up. :)

If such a beast grows up, I don't know if the other tankmates are happy.
In my tank a South American lungfish lived for 10 minutes before my parrot cichlid chopped it up.

Sold to me as South American (Lepidosiren paradoxa), never had a reason to doubt it. Seems to be the closest on google images also. Either way I'm not certain.

Cheers yeah is a great fish fairly active and never had an issue with tank mates. Just got a house move happening at the minute.

You're 100% correct! That is not a South American Lungfish.
Very cool specimen! Looks like a washed out/patternless Protopterus annectens (West African Lungfish). You can tell from the headshape and the way the eyes look. The small external gills are another give away. The pectoral limbs on this specimen is very long and "thick" when compared to South American ones. Body thickness is also too thick for a South American lungfish around that length.
