SABRETOOTH TETRA tank size

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
So Channarox how are your Scombs doing right now?

what is the sudden obsession with vampire tetras all of a sudden? They are awesome, but seem to have increased in popularity over the course of a week

Can someone post a good pic of a Sabertooth Tetra? I'm envisioning a cartoon like fish that's about 3 inches long with two 6 inch daggers hanging from the top of it's mouth...

How long have you been around this site?

Some of us have been obsessed a lot longer. Rising popularity is due to availability of Armatus.

I had my first Scomb around 3 years ago.....It was gutted by a moray. Been obsessed with them ever since. Waited a year to be able to purchase an Armatus. While waiting aquired a shoal of Tats. Before the Tats as a replacement for the first Scomb was a pair of Rhaphs.

I believe the initial interest in Payara came when G. (Shark Aquarium) brought the first batch of Armatus in around this time last year if I'm not mistaken. After the owners began reporting rediculous growth rates and an attitude second to none the payara craze began to spread like the plague.

Being an enthusiast is one thing. Being an owner is a way different story......because seeing is believing.

i've been around longer than either of u. i remember seeing my first one a few years ago, in real life, but all the species seem easier to get now, awesome fish.

theyre gone now.
kept them for over many mths.
one was ate by a gar.
one survived being attacked by a gar,but he died a few mths later due to a parasite or somethin.
one got ate by my gulper smaller than him.
that gulpers dead now.
i cant remember how another died.
those were the only problematic tankmates.
the gar outgrew them.

yup, also. the scomb species need alot of oxygenation in the tank, i would use peacful calm fish, not fish that swim non stop, may stress him out..

as for tank size id go with something in the 120 range for a small school 3-5 fish

these things school?
