sack on baby Arowana

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I can't believe they would sell them at THAT size.. thats so dangerous for Baby arowana to be sold..

I suggest keeping it isolated in a 10 gallon tank.. until his yolk sac disappears AND keep him in a 10 gallon until around 3-4" in size..

Keep the little guy safe because if the gets knocked around or his yolk sac breaks.. he will die.. its like a baby bird still using its yolk sac..

Good luck with it.. i would like to see some pic of it.. But get the little guy a tank by himself!

id have to set another tank. How soon could i get him in it? would i have to have it run for a day or so?

$18. He is going in a 55 gallon community/grow out tank. The are no largers aros at LFS. His current tank mates are a small raphiel, 2 small pictus cats, 3 gouramis
ok what size would he be in for life? when are you getting that? and do you have any other empty running tanks that you could hold him in because until >3" tankmates will kill him

a 20 long or a 40 breeder or anything 10 gallons or above would be good for a while
what filtration are you running on your 55?

i think gouramis will pick at him
and pictuses may try to eat him
but i agree with the price thing lol

Easier than a separate tank, you could put a divider in the 55 so the other fish can't get at him, that's probably safer as it's already cycled and running. Leave the divider in until the sack is gone and he's eating well, maybe 3-4" long.

use the water from your main tank for the 10 gal tank..... u cannot leave him in the bag too long.. hopefully you have him in bag in the tank to keep warm... they need the yolk sak because that is their food supply.. when that is gone then you start feeding him... poor little baby..good luck..
