Sacramento Pikeminnow? Please confirm ID

I'd like to get some of you guys with experience to give your thoughts. I am pretty sure these are pikeminnows but I would feel better about my ID with some confirmation.

Sure looks like it, I'm just comparing your pics to a google search though.

absolutely not.

in fact they are one of the few species you can take in CA with a spear or a bow & arrow

reference 08-09 California Freshwater Sport Fishing Regulations, pg 12 sections 2.25 & 2.30

the protected species in CA is the Colorado Pikeminnow

thanks for the input.
i am hoping someone with first hand experience will chime in, i cannot find any pictures for reference at this size. the largest one is 3 inches, and at this size they resemble several other species that are in the same drainages, specifically the sacramento blackfish, and the hardhead.

IDK much about Sacramento pikeminnows, but Colorado Pikeminnows get a LOT larger than that.
