Well, i literally just noticed Mr. Nibbles our fire eel weave had for 3 years went mia, checked the filter logs and moved some rocks he liked to hide behind. Then started to panic a bit as i looked under the tank only to find his dried up body. All in all is was 12 inches all coiled up, and as thick as 3 fingers.

PLS all thinking about eel or eel owners cover your tank :( would want you prize to slip though your hands :(.

Yeah, that's though. Mine is now about 14-15 inches and one of my favorite fish. I have to leave a HOB filter on the tank because that's where she prefers to call home. Sorry for your loss.

That sucks. Sorry for your loss... One of mine (16") got out, same story...found him dried up on the floor.. I've since added him to my "dried fish collection" and have fire eel proofed my tank that holds another 15" fire eel so he doesn't meet that same fate..

On a positive note we did pic up a little tire track, a far cry from whopper we lost but shes about 4 inches in length a cute little bugger pics to come.

thats how i lost my 24" Fire eel... its amazing how they can get out of the smallest openings...

They all seem to have different growth rates. Mine is about two years old now and around 15" he gets live earth worms every second day and sliced up prawn once a week and he is not growing at any noticeable rate.
