as ya'll know i put in my two week notice at work. my boss found out that i went above her head to her boss about problems in the store.(b4 i quit) and she let me go today. i still have a week and a half left on my notice and she didnt fire me. i asked. if im right, she is supposed to still pay me until my notice runs out but she refused. im going to human services monday.

since you asked to be let go now then you wont get paid, if you put in your 2 weeks and then they ask you to leave now (which is what happened to me, yep 2 weeks free pay :D) then you would get paid, but since you put in your 2 week notice then you asked to go now then they wont pay you...

Look at it this way, you bettered yourself. I have seen a trend with alot of retail places like you worked at. They don't care about good work, they care more about cheap labor, good turnover rate of employees ( no need to worry about paying raises), and if someone is just there to halfway help. All they are doing is asking for trouble. Plus, if the old employees knew how to run the store without the new manager, that is bad for the manager. The new manager could of saw them as a thread and got rid of them for like you say stupid reasons.

but i should be able to get paid for the last 10 days of my notice right?

Hey man I know how you feel, I work at a fish store and everyday the boss basically makes me run the store while she goes in her office and plays her playstation, and she wonders why everything isn't running smoothly, o yea what a coincidence my boss is a women :banher:
Well at least she knows how to get out of the way!

In NY if you quit & they tell you to go now, they do not need to pay you for the remaining time (only time worked). I have no idea about TN. looks like a department of labor question..

The way I see it, you can ask the Humane Society if you can start earlier. You will be better off with the new position, rather than working in a lfs that will soon be out of business.
