your fault you can tell 30 seconds into the first video that the rtc wouldnt be able to swallow it, but it was gonna continue to try, his belly looked empty its what they do. even if you didnt remove the jd you should have atleast fed the hell out of the rtc so it would go hide in its hole to digest rather than continuing on the jd. its actually kind of upsetting that you took videos but did nothing to stop this from happening

Exactly what I was thinking.

:iagree: i feel bad that your RTC died but i also feel for that poor jack dempsey you let it chew up. i would have preferred you found a home for the fish if you didnt care about it instead of videotaping its demise and posting it all over the internet. i dont know if anyone else on here wants to admit to being a crazy like me, but i love my fish so much, i consider stuff like this no better than dog fighting. dont get me wrong it happens in nature i understand. but in nature there isn't a film crew. i didnt want to see this. im going to bed.:(

I'm sorry for your loss but I agree with what everyone says about not pulling out the sick fish

im sorry about your rtc but if you pulled it out you could of saved him

Gotta ask

a) what the heck is an RTC doing in a tank with fish less than half it's size?
Its a top predator capable of consuming fish up to half it's size.
The fact it hadn't as yet eaten the plecos, firemouths etc is Imaterial - it would
have done eventully.
b) Why would just stand there and video something like that ? Do something about it fella! Dont tape it & post it - shocked

+1 Not to beat a dead fish but I was going to say this as well. If he hadn't died it was only a matter of time before he ate all your other fish. These types of catfish will typically eat anything that will fit in their mouths, and in some cases things that won't. This is why they should only be kept with larger fish and their food needs to be regulated.

Sorry for your loss, really hope you learn from these mistakes

Jeez, man, that realy sucks. All to often the RTCs' appetites get the better of them.
Sorry for your loss.
