It sucks..my first fish loss to my own doing in a long time
but know i know better..ALWAYS cover the python intake!!!thank you and so true!..it made a sad situation a little less sad..as long as i can keep them alive!

ahaha that is one way to look at it!!! ^_^ i know they are pretty common fish but they are very under rated! like are like mini gars...sooo mean.
Yeah I had a pair too..male died quick, female lived quite long.. awesome fish, huge mouth for their size and nice too look at.
all five have now hatched

How awesome that those tiny guys, which I totally can not even see, can come from your loss. What a bummer. I lost one of my favorite fish last week to something I could've prevented, too, so I can totally relate to beating yourself up over a loss.
Focus on the new guys, and just hope one looks and acts like your lost pal.

yeah i was so heart broken when i lost him..but the discovery of the eggs made me so happy!!!
there is only one in the pic..he is basically front and center under one of the pennywort leaves

21 days old!!
I can already see vertical bars of the female..witch seems to be most of them other than one larger one ^_^!..they are soo mean even at this age!
they lived in a betta cup with 4-6 day water changes out of the parent tank..and they now have been moved in to a 3/5 gallon grow out tank...about 6-8 still doing well..hard to get a good count of them in the plants.
