For the past day or two I have been noticing my little Green Severum acting very shy, actually laying on/in my plants, and not coming out and swimming for more than a minute or two at a time. Tonight I watched for a good hour before I noticed the problem: One of it's pectoral fins are broken. The poor little guy would lay on the plants all day long enough to gain enough energy to come out and swim for a minute, and then go back to rest, usually for a very long time. I kept watching, and it is having a hard time getting around for very long. I feel terrible watching this poor thing suffer, so I think tomorrow if nothing changes, which I don't expect it will, I will do the humane thing, and euthanize the little guy.

:(

It's just floating up against the glass in the front of the tank. It's not swimming, it looks more like it's treading. It looks so miserable. I think I am just going to do it tonight and get it over with...

:(

What do you be broken? its it ripped up or like ripped off? post some pics and don't euthenize it yet wait for some help.

It's broken. The fin is constantly fully extended, and is not moving. The fish is tilted to one side when it 'swims'...

check it's spine, that could be a reason to it not swimming
and if it looks messed, to be honest, i might kill the fish to.

tough luck, gotta move in your hobby though if it comes down to this.

The spine is fine on it. Like I said sometimes it looks 'alright', but then a minute or two later...

I can see why it was hard to tell at first, though. When the other pectoral is extended, there is virtually nothing to notice. Once it stops moving, it's pretty obvious.

The fish is stressed to the max right now, and is really dark in color.

It seems to thrust it's tail to move once in a while, which is definately not normal.

Yeah... It's part of the responsibility. I will definately move on, but this just plain old sucks.

Oops... I didn't mean 'pectoral' in my first post, I meant 'pelvic' fin.
