That was an amazing ornate, sorry for your loss. Been there, it is like getting hit in the stomach.
 
I just saw this, that really does suck. Sorry to hear this Ben it was a beautiful fish.
 
Here's an odd update...my Uncle called me early this morning to tell me one of the filters was "screaming". So as I looked around, I found the body of my Ornate. Funny thing was, I've looked all over the place when I realized he was missing and today he was found behind the filter (which was already searched).

Sorry, that was a beautiful fish. I wonder if he was still flopping around when you first looked? I know, sad to think about... even worse if he still had a chance had you found him and pitched him back into the tank.
 
I don't think so. He was completely missing. I have 3 tanks lined up, searched around, behind, and inside every single once. Next to the tanks is the refrigerator which was pulled out and so on and so forth. He was gone. He has a large hole on the bottom which suggested that something ate his insides. Makes me wonder if the rodent brought him back for storage or something. Also there was no foul odor that suggested something decomposing or anything of the sort as well.
