Sad story about Walmart and Clown knives

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
the wal mart i work for cant get the ck. the only knife we can get is the african. at my store we have a very good dept mgr that does a very good job with the fish. and as far as feeding the live feeders we do that with the oscars. and the fish get ordered by the dept mgr not the POS system. if you have a problem at a store you need to send a letter to the president(of wal mart). that will show up on a report at the store and the issue will get addressed.

Thanks for the info I will be sure to do that.

It is very sad but all walmart are like this or should i give the {benefit of the doubt } and say most are like this... They should not be selling fish in walmart under any conditions... i love clown knives too and glad that you rescued them... Handsome devil is no devil at all... and Liz {red devil} feels the same way..some day maybe fish will have some rights... sad situation over and over.. i cannot stand to see those sucken in stomachs... it takes a long time for a fish to starve.... :(

WELL DONE!!!
i have the upmost respect for you! i would have done the same thing! if i was in the us i would be over there like a shot as iv just lost my 2ft knife (alot of tears involved) but maybe u should start a petition to get rid of the store manager! if she has animal cruelty on her cv im sure she wont get another job with animals anytime soon!

i think someone has said in an old post that their local walmart is pretty good although thats the only one i can recall saying that.

they need the same rights as the fluffies. if it was a fluffy bunny or kitten getting starved and ill treated all hell would break loose.

it breaks my heart to see a fish suffering like that. i see fish like other people see puppies and kittens. granted you cant hold them but they are just as wonderful to me.

i agree...all living things should be treated humanly... and fish should be no exception...

just so you know, when you "rescue" a fish, you are simply validating wal-marts decision to sell fish under the understanding that they will sell no matter the conditions. It will show on there point of sale system as 3 clown sales and they'll probably order more. THe best way to save a significant amount of fish is to abstain from buying them. If they don't sell, they won't be stocked

:iagree:---< Most of the Walmarts stopped carrying fish in our area, it's a product sad to say. When losses exceed gains, they stop carrying them.
Education of the consumer is your only real protection in a situation like this.

That's where e forums rock!:headbang2 sorry got a little excited?

Leave "post it's" in their fish department with hand written educational web links such as "Aquaria Central"

Thank you Liz, that means a whole lot coming from you!
I am just glad that we got the store manager to agree not to carry them.
I think I am going to be building that 500 gallon tank alot sooner than I had planned, just gotta wait for the weather to cool off.

A thought just occured to me to make another case why walmart shouldn't be carrying fish and at the very least not ones that get this big. I am not trying to be classist or in any way prejudiced but alot of the wal-marts cater to lower income familes who wouldn't know about these fish and perhaps keep them in smaller tanks or community tanks imagine when this fish starts eating their cute little neons or cardinals, or grows too big, I imagine it would not be too hard to for some of them to be released into our canals here in Phoenix. thus further restricting the types of fish that we can keep. A sad deal all the way around. I feel like maybe we at least made a difference at one store. I am going to start petitioning their corporate head quarters to not sell fish at all for the above stated reasons.

If they would clean up thair act it would be fine, but thats not gonna happen.
I saw pacus for sale & it said they grow to 8" I asked if they could change it & the guy said he would get fired if he did:WTF:.
I've got to sympathize with the employees, keep in mind the fish arent the only ones who get treated like*%&#.
