sadly needing to restock

What is the foot print of the tank? The geos can get to 10" but IME are as peaceful as sevs and will take quite some time to get that big. So probably only 2 at max and then some smaller fish like rams which are quite nice and extremely peaceful.

Monsters are ok as long as you don't get bored after a while and want to add more fish, which you won't be able to do. Where as with a peaceful setup you can add and subtract as much as you like..

yeah i alredy have a 11" mayan who lives by himself and tries to attack people through glass. he hates the colour black. and when my gf comes round (she is chinese so has black hair) he goes crazy at her! its pretty funny at first but i dont keep it going more than a few seconds cause i dont wanne stress him out.

would it be more acceptable to have some peacefull larger cichlids like a severum or 2. or chocolate cichlids, and then some smaller ones like firemouths and salvini's etc. i had a set up with those fish before that worked, not sure on the exact species i would need

but overstocking is not a problem i do weekly water changes and have a very powerful eheim filter

if you are going for a non agressive tank and are looking for some smaller fish i would consider a few keyhole cichlids as they are great little fish and seem to keep out of trouble, i have one in with my green terror, convicts, jag, parrot fish, robertsonni etc and has never had a mark put on him. i have heard that firemouths suffer with white spot easily. if you are going for a monster i am liking the look of electric blue jack dempseys. i would have said green terror but saw you had already one.

and what species of geophagus?
It really depends on what you can get hold of where you live. I'm guessing you're somewhere in Europe so should have access to a few different species. We can't get hold of that many here in NZ.

If you want to keep the bichir then you should go for the geo's or something similar, instead of a big single monster (which it sounds like you already have one of!).
