I wouldn't feed koi... not very nutritional plus they have lots of thiamine which can lead to vitamin b1 deficiency...

:headbang2:headbang2:headbang2 NIce so now we have it, that you are saying that Koi are full of Vitamin B1 and that them having vitamin B1 is going to cause them to be deficient in that vitamin!!:ROFL::ROFL:

Seriously this topic you are attempting to discuss, is a topic you need to research allot more before just popping out in-factual/incorrect data. If you don't know why to or not to.. Then don't..

But I assure you by feeding anything with THIAMINE in it is not going to cause your fish to be Thiamine/ B1 Deficient.....:screwy:

Better feeders when feeding feeders is a more naturally accuring species... Say SA cichlids... OR tetras.... Or something more close to the water chemistry that is natural to the species you are trying to feed.

Still this probably should not be the main course for your needs... I would stick around and read in the P section and see what those here feed their P's on a regular.. You can feed Koi and you can feed goldfish.. Do you want to all the time.. No. Are there things that can go wrong yes... Do you know that your neighbor has clean fish?

Rule of thumb... When a feeder is in question .. Don't risk it. MY opinion is if you think your neighbors fish are clean and healthy.. Then those types are not dangerous to feed every now and again.. But to make those fish the main diet is not suggested, for many reasons.

LOL sorry i meant they have THIAMIASE, my bad.

Anyways cyprinid fish DO contain LOTS of THIAMIASE which DOES destroy vitamin b1, which can lead to a whole number of health issues.

It's fine every once and a while, but you should NOT use goldfish/koi/rosies for a staple diet or a regular treat.

i forgot to ask are you getting their permission to go over there or are you sneakin over there in the middle of the night with a dip net and just netting them out?
